About the Magnum's Masked Man Gun Dog Award

This award was created in 2001 by Bob and Chris Burchett to recognize, on a national level, the Brittany Gun Dog that epitomizes the level of sustained performance that was the hallmark of former National Gun Dog Champion Magnum's Masked Man.

The winner of this award will be the Brittany that earns the highest points total earned in qualifying stakes during a calendar year.   Qualifying stakes include any AKC or American Field Gun Dog and/or Shooting Dog field trial event held anywhere in the United States that is sponsored by the American Brittany Club, ABC regional clubs, or Independent Brittany Associations.  Points may be earned from placements in both Open and Amateur stakes.

Note:  For the 2003 competition year, points will be based on dogs defeated, not starters. 

Calculation of points is based on the table below, as follows:
Points earned = (# of Dogs Defeated) * (# points/place) 
Example for 1 hour stake:  (34 Dogs Defeated) * (6 points/2nd place) = 204 Points Earned
